SIALKOT - The Health Department got registered separate cases against 17 quacks for playing with precious lives of people in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur, and sent the cases of nine other accused to a drugs court for trial. Presiding over a meeting of the District Quality Control Board, Sialkot DCO Dr Asif Tufail disclosed the arrests. EDO (Health) Dr Javaid Warraich, DQCB secretary Naveed Sarwar, District Drug Controller Dr Naila Arshad and other senior officials also attended the meeting.

He issued warning to the accused owners of 20 medical stores advising them to ensure early implementation of Drugs Act. He also directed the health officials to launch a vigorous crackdown on quacks. He said that the quacks were playing with the lives of the people, which would be brought to task at every cost.

Meanwhile, the Health Department teams sealed 21 medical stores for selling spurious and expired medicines in Gujranwala Division.
