ISLAMABAD - Soon after staging comeback to National Assembly after putting an end to the 126-long day sit-in or Dharna, MNAs of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) have proved to be regular in attending sessions of the Lower House although Chairman Imran Khan still remains at bay from entering Parliament House.

Though Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq has termed attendance record of MNAs official secret, yet a petition filed by PILDAT, Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency, triggered President Mamnoon Hussain to issue order for making the attendance record public.

The attendance statement of 23rd session of the Lower House held from June 5 to June 25 this year shared by NA Secretariat with PILDAT and available with The Nation, reveals that PTI MNAs have a good attendance at the House.

The statement reveals that PTI among the political parties has emerged as regular in attending sessions of the House although Imran Khan did not show up for a day in the House during June.

PTI lawmakers like Asad Umar, Arif Alvi, Shireen Mazari, Dawar Khan Kundi, Dr Imran Khattak, Ayesha Gulalai, Shafqat Mahmood and others have nearly 100 per cent attendance rate in the House except Imran Khan who was on leave for the whole session.

MNAs of the ruling party PML-N have remained absent from the House with MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif topping the list by remaining absent for the entire session followed by MNA Rida Khan who was present only for three days during the 15-day long session.

As Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has submitted motion in the House seeking unseating of PTI lawmakers for remaining absent from National Assembly for 40 days, its own MNAs too have least bothered to be good in attendance.

MQM's MNAs including Sohail Mansoor Khwaja (NA-240), Farooq Sattar (NA-249), Muhammad Ali Rashid, Alizeh Iqbal Haider, and Kanwar Naveed Jamil (NA-246) have remained absent in attending the sitting for 14 days.

Similarly, MNAs of Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) have given maximum time to ensuring their attendance at National Assembly, almost equal to that of women Parliamentarians belonging to other political parties.

MNAs of JUI-F and female lawmakers in the House have almost equal attendance rate in the House.

Majority of women Parliamentarians have proved to be regular in attending sitting of the House.

Despite major Opposition party in the House, MNAs of PPP particularly those belonging to Sindh have frequently skipped attending the session.

Some of the lawmakers have never bothered to attend any sitting of the House.

PPP MNAs like Dr Fehmida Mirza, former Speaker, Mir Munawar Ali Talpur, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Faryal Talpur, Sardar Ali Muhammad Khan Mahar are among those PPP Parliamentarians who have zero attendance during the 23rd session that started on June 5 to June 25.

Other PPP Parliamentarians have not attended the session for more than eight days with Leader of Opposition Syed Khurshid Shah making presence in the House for 13 days thus he is one of the leading members who is regular in attending sessions.

Ameer Haider Khan Hoti of Awami National Party (ANP) remained absent for the whole session, while MNA Sardar Kamal Khan Bangolzai of National Party (NP) attended the session for one day only.
