HARIPUR - A dramatic political scenario is expected in the Haripur, as former MNA Sardar Muhammad Mushtaq rejoined PML (N) after a meeting with Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

According to the details, Sardar Muhammad Mushtaq former MNA from NA-19 Haripur called on Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Saturday along with PML (N) Provincial President and former Chief Minister Pir Sabar Shah, Special Advisor to the prime minister Dr Asif Karmani, MNA Cap (R) Muhammad Safdar, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javaid Abbasi and announced to rejoin PML (N) posing his full confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif. Sardar Muhammad Mushtaq remained MNA from NA-19 Haripur for a period from 2008 to 2013 when he returned in the election held on 8th February 2008 on the ticket of PML (N) and begged 98,670 votes against Dr Raja Amar Zaman who contested election as independent candidate and obtained 71,254 votes and Omer Ayoub Khan PML (Q) candidate who obtained 50,631 votes. People of the constituency were unhappy and angry over Sardar Muhammad Mushtaq, as he could not execute any developmental work in the region in that Pakistan People Party led central government regime and also could not maintain his contacts with the constituency' peoples well.

In 2012 differences erupted between Sardar Muhammad Mushtaq and PML (N) when the PML(N) leadership decided to field Omar Ayub Khan in the 2013 election, who had served Shaukat Aziz's cabinet as state minister for finance, as a joint candidate of PML-N and PML-Q (Likeminded). Before parting his ways with (PML-N) Sardar Muhammad Mushtaq had informally announced his plans to join the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), he held meetings with former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, former President Asif Ali Zardari and the president's sister Farayal Talpur, assuring his support to the party. Then as a reward, PPP's leadership agreed to announce a development package for Haripur and to declare him party candidate for the next i.e. 2013 election.

Sardar Muhammad Mushtaq invited the then Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf at Haripur on 19th December, 2014 who announced few mega project for Haripur to reinstated a worst political position of Sardar Muhammad Mushtaq and to provide him a face saving for the next election.

Latter Sardar Muhammad Mushtaq joined Pakistan People Party and contested 2013 election on the ticket of PPP but people of the constituency rejected and pushed him at number four against his rivals. He could obtained only 16396 votes against PTI candidate Dr Raja Aamar Zaman (116,579 votes), Omer Ayoub Khan of PML-N (114,374 votes) and Pir Syed Alamzeb Shah of Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam (F) candidate (19765 votes). Now when by-election are being held in this constituency on 16th August, 2015 and Sardar Muhammad Mushtaq has joined again his previous party which had sent him in the parliament in 2008 would be cause of a dramatic change in the political scenario of this region. Political analyst are of the view that re-joining of PML (N) by Sardar Muhammad Mushtaq would further strengthen the PML (N) candidate Babar Nawaz Khan in the by-election who was already gaining popularity day by day over his rival PTI candidate Dr Raja Aamar Zaman. They are further of the view that PML (N) has got a powerful alternative candidate for next election from NA-19 Haripur. It is worth mentioning here that after stepping back for contesting the by-election by Omer Ayoub Khan due condition of his ailing mother, PML (N) was surrounded in the trouble due to non availability of any suitable candidate to compete the PTI candidate in by-election and no option was left with PML (N) except to induct Babar nawaz Khan in the party and to issue him party ticket on his terms and conditions for regaining the seat. Babar Nawaz family has a tradition to contest the election as independent candidate and also remained successful.
