Islamabad: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad today.

They discussed overall security situation prevailing in the country. They also reviewed progress of operation Zarb-e-Azb.

The Prime Minister and Army Chief exchanged views over Altaf Hussain’s speech, in which the London-based MQM chief made objectionable remarks against the armed forces and called for deployment of the UN and the NATO troops in Karachi.

In the meeting, reports said, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan briefed the PM and Army Chief, over the speech and political situation arising from the development. It is reported that top military officials briefed the PM about gains in the ongoing Zarb-e-Azb operation, crackdown against criminals and militants in different cities and peace talks with Taliban in Afghanistan.

Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and DG ISI Lt. General Rizwan Akhtar were also present at the meeting.
