LAHORE – Gangsters on Sunday went on the rampage, hit the provincial capital for no less than 30 times and made off with cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth four million rupees besides cars and motorcycles, police sources claimed.

Two motorcyclists shot at and wounded Zaheer Ahmed on offering resistance during a road robbery attempt in Shahdara Town area. The robbers fled away after collecting cash and mobile phone from victim. The injured was rushed to a local hospital in serious condition.

Five robbers stormed into the house of Tahir Riaz in Factory Area police precincts and took away cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth Rs one million after holding the inmates’ hostage at gunpoint.

In other house robberies, which took place in Gujjarpura, Iqbal Town, Baghbanpura, Raiwind and Faisal Town police vicinities, armed bandits snatched away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs two million at gunpoint.

Two motorcyclists held up Fraz and his family at gunpoint in Hanjarwal police area and snatched away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 100,000.

Muhammad Arif was deprived of Rs 20,000, his motorcycle and mobile phone at gunpoint from Ravi Road police area.

Robbers intercepted the family of Tayyab in Misri Shah police area and fled away after collecting cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 500,000 from them.

Armed bandits riding on motorcycles also robbed motorists and passersby in Ravi Road, Shalimar, Sabzazar, Mozang, Iqbal Town, Model Town, Shahdara Town, Sanda and Mughalpura police areas and snatched away cash and other valuables worth tens of thousands of rupees at gunpoint.

Meanwhile, four cars were stolen away from North Cantonment, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Model Town, and race Course police limits while seven motorcycles were either snatched or stolen away from Gowalmandi, Data Darbar, Johar Town, Islampura, Muslim Town, Tibbi City and Harbanspura police precincts.
