PESHAWAR - An another blow to the PTI, as its provincial leader Iftikhar Khan Jhagra is set to say goodbye to the party and rejoin his old party - the Pakistan People’s Party - tomorrow.

He will make the announcement during a news conference at Jhagra House in the presence of federal ministers Naveed Qamar, Syed Khurshid Shah, Rehman Malik and PPP KPK President Anwar Saifullah Khan.

After formally quitting the PPP some time back, Iftikhar Jhagra had joined the PTI in the presence of party chief Imran Khan at a huge public meeting on November 24 last year. However, after developing differences with the party top brass on intra-party elections, he recently resigned from the party and now is willing to rejoin his old buddies. Iftikhar Jhargra has been wooed back by PPP Provincial President Anwar Saifullah Khan who had embarked upon the mission of winning over the estranged PPP leaders and workers in the province.

Being a seasoned politician, his rejoining the PPP would further strengthen the PPP in KPK. Sources told TheNation that a few days back it was unclear whether he would come back to the PPP or would make an announcement in the ruling ANP, as some senior party leaders of the latter had also contacted him for formally joining the ANP.

Jhagra, a former member of the PPP’s Central Executive Committee (CEC), had resigned from the party a year back after having differences with party leadership on party ticket for contesting elections. Iftikhar Jhagra along with Syed Iftikhar Ali Shah and dozens of others would announce joining the PPP at a news conference.
