LAKKI MARWAT - The office-bearers of different sports organisations have formed a committee to press the government to resolve problems being faced by players of the area.

The committee, named as Naurang sports committee, was formed at a meeting held here on the premises of Government Higher Secondary School on Tuesday. Malik Saad Sports Trust Lakki chapter coordinator Irfanullah Nayab, badminton association president Sultan Khan, karate association president Zahid Iqbal, kabaddi association president Naeemullah Khattak and members of sports organisations attended the meeting.

The participants discussed sports related issues and said to bring players and members of sports bodies on single platform was the need of day. "The players of the town lack facilities at local level because of which they cannot exhibit their potentialities,” said a participant.

He said the office-bearers of thee sports organisations repeatedly requested the higher quarters concerned and lawmakers from the district to pay heed to resolve the problems of players but to no avail.

Another participant expressed concern over the delay in execution of work on setting up sports stadium in Naurang stadium and asked the government and district administration to speed up the process in this regard. "With the availability of sports facilities, the local players will be able to demonstrate their skills and brighten the name district at national and international level,” he said.

At the meeting, the participants unanimously elected Haji Ameer Jan as president while Irfan Nayab as general secretary of the committee. Other office bearers included Dr M Tahir Shah (chairman), Zahid Iqbal (SVP), Javed Gul, Sultan Khan, Naeemullah, Jamshed Khan and Jalaud Din (VPs), Shamsur Rehman and Asif Ameen (joint secretaries), Shafiullah Shah (finance secretary), Walid Marwat (press secretary) and Ihsanullah (legal advisor).

Members of the general body of sports committee were also elected. They included M Nawaz, Asmatullah, Aadil Nawaz, Irshad Khan Azizur Rehman, Zahir Shah, Zahid Marwat, Anwar Ali, M Riaz, Arshad Khan, Barkat Surani, Dr Irfan, Riaz Ali Shah, Haider Ali, Sifatullah, Sahibzada Aafeeatullah and Farhatullah.
