Three persons died and 20 others sustained injuries in separate fog-related road mishaps in different areas on Tuesday.

In Sheikhupura, two friends were killed while another suffered critical injuries in a road mishap occurred due to fog on Faisalabad Road near Katchi Khoti on Tuesday. The three friends on a bike were on the way to Shahkot from Ferozewattwan. As they reached near Katchi Khoti, a speeding truck in a bid to overtake, knocked them down. As a result Zahid died on the spot while Izman and Naveed were taken to hospital where doctors pronounced as Izman dead. The Manawala Police have started investigation against the runaway driver.

In another road mishap left one dead and four wounded in Sheikhupura as seven cars rammed into each other due to intense fog. Separately in Renala Khurd, collision of two rickshaws injured four students. The injured were shifted to the hospital for medical assistance.

Fog has finally enveloped plains of Punjab, disrupting the flow of traffic. The foggy conditions would continue in various areas including Sheikhupura, Okara, Chishtian, Chiniot and Renala Kurd.

The authorities have closed Motorway M-3 from Faisalabad for all kind of traffic to avoid any mishap.

Cold and dry weather is likely to prevail in most parts of the country during next 24 hours. However, cloudy condition is also expected in some cities to welcome the winter season, the Pakistan Meteorological Department reported.
