ISLAMABAD - Lahore Region Blues beat Islamabad Region by 13 runs in low-scoring encounter of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2015-16 Round Six Pool-A match played here at Diamond Ground Wednesday.

Chasing 179 runs for victory, Islamabad were bundled out for 165 in 47.1 overs. Ahmed Bashir ripped through Islamabad batting claiming 4 for 57 while Aizaz Cheema and Bilawal Bhatti also chipped in with 3 wickets each.

Earlier, Lahore resumed their second innings at the overnight score of 95-7 wickets and were all out for 159 in 37.2 overs. It was relatively easier target for Islamabad, but their batsmen spoiled all the good work done by their bowlers. Bilawal Iqbal made 42 while Hassan Ali grabbed 6 wickets for 43 runs.

At Marghazar Ground, UBL were in firm position against Port Qasim as they made 276-6 in their second innings to take 379 runs lead with 4 wickets still intact. Umar made 110. Azam and Talha shared two wickets. Earlier, Port Qasim resumed their first innings at overnight score of 213-9 and added just two runs before being all out for 215 conceding 103 runs first innings lead. Khalid Latif remained unbeaten at 172. Ehsan Adil picked up 6 for 61 and Sameen Gul 3 for 27.

In Pool-B match played at Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi Region fell to new lows as first timers Fata hammered them by 4 wickets to create history. As per expectations, Fata resumed their run-chase at overnight score of 72-4 wickets, requiring another 108 runs for victory. Thanks to match-winning unbeaten 60 by M Irfan, Fata achieved the target losing two further wickets. At National ground, Wapda faced huge battle to avoid defeat against KRL as they finished day-3 at 157-8 in their second innings.

They are leading KRL by only 132 runs with two wickets remaining. M Saad made 56. M Abbas was the pick of KRL bowlers grabbing 5 for 50. Rahat Ali also chipped in with 3 for 43. Earlier, KRL resumed their first innings at overnight score of188-8 and were all out for 212 taking vital 25 runs first innings lead. Zulfiqar Babar took 5 for 50, Waqas 3 for 59 and Azhar 2 for 38.
