Journalists always played a vital role for the prosperity and improvement of the society while the law-enforcers even sacrificed their lives while discharging their duty, said a police officer.

Addressing a press conference here the on Wednesday, he said that law-enforcement agencies are duty bound to protect journalists and media houses and no leniency in the regard would be tolerated. “We are a courageous nation and would never bow down before terrorists and anti-state elements,” he said. Condemning several terrorist incidents against media, the district police officer assured that police were well aware of its duty and a strategy was underway to protect journalist fraternity and press clubs.

ACCIDENT: A newly married youth died in a road accident in Mandi Usmanwala here on Wednesday.

Shabbir, who recently got married, was crossing road when a tractor-trolley hit him due to poor visibility killing him on the spot. The Mandi Usmanwala police are investigating.
