LAHORE:  A veteran leader of the PTI, Shadab Jaffary in a surprising development yesterday joined the PML-Q led by Chaudharys of Gujrat.

Mr Jaffary who had been the PT) Lawyers Wing Punjab president and headed Imran Khan party’s intra-party polls as its provincial election commissioner of Punjab, maintaining distance from party affairs over differences sidelining another estranged leader Justice (Retd) Wajihuddin Ahmed. Mr Wajih headed PTI’s famous commission to identify and fix responsibility on the party men who bribed the intra-party polls.

He recommended expulsion of four party leaders including Chief Minister Khyber Pukhtunkhawa Pervez Khattak, Aleem Khan, Nadir Akmal Leghari and Azam Swati. Mr Jaffary who endorsed Mr Wajih and marched behind him when he (Wajih) launched a campaign against party’s high command to expel the four also snubbed and sidelined by the top party leadership.

Syed Shadab Jaffary called on PML-Q Punjab president Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi at his residence and announced to join his party with one of his colleague in Mr Khan’s party. Pervaiz Elahi welcoming former PTI leaders said his would benefit from the experience of the two seasoned political workers.

“Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi are among top of the politicians who respect the worker. The five-year term of Pervaiz Elahi as Punjab chief minister can be called the golden era of the province. The ideological workers who wants genuine respect always prefer PML-Q,” said Mr Jaffary.

Political analysts attaching high importance to Mr Jaffary’s joining the PML-Q saying Mr Khan’s seasoned lieutenant breaking away from the party could bring more shock waves to the PTI.

Mr Khan is surrounded by sycophants and distanced himself from the real party cadres and behaving more like a despot than a political leader. PTI chairman is losing popularity among the populace which is evident from his party’s losses in the two phases of local bodies’ polls, they added.
