LAHORE  - A father of six was found dead in his house at Nabi Bukhsh Town, Kahna police said on Monday.

The wife of deceased told the police that unidentified men burst into their house late Sunday night and fled after shooting down her husband, Muhammad Mansha, when he was sleeping in the bedroom.

The police have removed the body to the morgue for autopsy. Investigators termed the killing as mysterious murder and are investigating to unearth the killers. The police have also registered a murder case against unidentified killers.

Separately, two unidentified men were found dead from different parts of the provincial metropolis. Police said that a 55-year-old man was recovered dead from a footpath in Bhati Gate while a 50-year-old man was found dead in Batapur police precincts. The Edhi ambulance shifted the bodies to the morgue for autopsy.

Cops attacked at picket

Gunmen riding in an auto rickshaw shot at and wounded two policemen at a picket in Shahdara in the wee hours of Monday, a police spokesperson said. The gunmen fled the crime scene.

Constable Muhammad Anas and Mudassar Hussain sustained multiple bullet wounds and were rushed to a hospital. The condition of the cops was said to be out of danger.

Police sources said that seven to ten policemen were on-guard at the picket set up near Shahdara More when they signaled a three-wheeler to stop for snap checking. The men inside the auto-rickshaw opened straight fire on the policemen and fled instantly. As a result, two police sustained bullet injuries and were shifted to the Mayo hospital.

Meanwhile, Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Amin Wains visited the hospital to inquire after the injured cops. The Lahore police chief also announced Rs 50,000 as compensation for the policemen.
