PESHAWAR  - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan on Monday held a consultative session with MNAs and senators from Federal Administered Tribal Areas to discuss FATA reforms in the context of current situation prevailing in the region.

Besides Federal Minister for Textile and Industry Senator Abbas Khan Afridi, Senator Engr. Malik Rashid Ahmed Khan, Senator Hidayatullah, senator Muhammad Idrees Khan Safi, Senator Muhammad saleh Shah, members members National Assembly, Bismillah Khan, Sayyed Ghazi Ghulab Jamal, Muhammad Nazir Khan, Muhammad Jamal uddin, Shahab uddin Khan, Alhaj Shahji Gul Afridi, Ghalib Khan, Bilal Rehman, Qaiser Jamal, Nasir Khan Afridi, Chairman FATA Reforms Commission, ex-chief secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi, members FATA Reforms Commission and other relevant officials were present on this occasion.

Talking to the FATA parliamentarians, the governor said that repatriation of all IDPs is the top most priority of our government and guaranteed the reforms process in FATA would be completed with the consent and wishes of tribal people. He said that every possible step would be taken to strengthen the citizen-state relationship in FATA.  He said the commission has been tasked to revisit and define the state-citizen relations, identify key reforms areas and options for institutional development and strengthening and good governance in the area.

While appreciating the spirit of patriotism of tribal people, the governor said that tribal people had left their homes and native places for the great national cause and their sacrifices would never go in vain. He said an effective administration in FATA would be ensured to lead in a new era of development. The meeting was intended to obtain their suggestions and ideas on reforms agenda in FATA to establish the writ of the government in real in this turbulent region.

This consultation session was to obtain their suggestions and ideas on reform agenda given to the commission. The main task of this commission is to recommend policies and reforms to improve the situation in Fata in the short medium and long term basis. It was a strategic review session of various proposals for FATA reforms advocated by various FATA parliamentarians.
