LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said has directed ministers of his cabinet and the departments concerned play an active role in transmitting benefit of cut in petroleum prices to the masses.

Addressing a meeting of Price Control Committee through video link at Civil Secretariat on Monday, the chief minister said that for the government public interest is of paramount importance and relief and availability of basic amenities to the citizens is top on the PML-N government agenda for which maximum resources have been earmarked.

The chief minister warned that no complaint from Lahore or any other part of the province about non-availability of petroleum products should be made by the public. He said that indiscriminate action should be taken against owners of the petrol stations if found overcharging.  Shahbaz Sharif said that fourth time prices of the petroleum products have been cut substantially and through under personally monitoring, steps taken have taken to transfer its benefits to the masses.

He directed the departments to make every effort to make these public-friendly steps effective. He directed that reduction in transport fares in proportion to the decrease in the prices of petroleum products should be ensured. He said that AC transport fares should also be reduced while prices of essential items should be decreased as well for benefitting the common man.

PM greets CM over CTF

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has congratulated Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif as well as political and administrative team of the province on setting up the Counter Terrorism Force (CTF).

The prime minister has highly commended the Punjab government for taking very important step of setting up the CTF. The initiative taken by the Punjab government about establishment of CTF and equipping it with the modern day training in the profession is quite timely and deserves appreciation, he added.  The prime minister also described the passing-out ceremony of first batch of the CTF as splendid and impressive and also congratulated the committee which organised the event.
