KARACHI - Deputy Parliamentary Leader of MQM in Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hasan on Monday said that the provincial government had failed to safeguard lives and property of people and if necessary, emergency should be imposed in the province to safeguard it.

Talking to media at Sindh Assembly, Hasan said that MQM Chief Altaf Hussasin warned authorities of terrorism years ago but no one paid any heed.

“Political leaders who made fun of MQM leaders at that time are quite today, when MQM chief’s predictions are becoming true,” he said adding that law and order situation of province are deteriorating.

He said emergency should be imposed in the province immediately asking to extend targeted action against militant outfits to other parts of the province. “If provincial authorities wanted assistance from Pakistan Army to wipe out terrorists from the province, they should go ahead immediately,” he said adding that action should also be taken against terrorist facilitators.

Meanwhile, Responding to MQM leader, Minister for Local Bodies and Information, Sharjeel Inam Memon termed demand for emergency in Sindh as - not wise adding that police, Rangers and armed forces all are on one page against terrorism.

He said that the Shikarpur incident was a national tragedy and the entire country was under threat. “Terrorists are not sparing anything which is why political parties agreed on military courts,” he said.

He said the provincial government was beefing up capacity of law enforcing personnel and equipping them with latest weaponry and techniques to fight terrorism.

He added that perpetrators of the Shikarpur incident would be nabbed and the IGP Sindh had been directed to submit the report on the incident within two days.
