Islamabad - The first-ever conference of universities’ treasurers on Monday adopted a comprehensive package of recommendations for better management of funds and the staff capacity building in light of new directions by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

It was decided that the package will be sent to HEC for further action. The conference was organised by Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU). It was attended by the representatives of Islamabad-based universities - NUML, IIUI, QAU, COMSAT and ARID (Rawalpindi).

The conference discussed matters of  mutual interests, including catering the fund managements/ gap of inflows and outflows due to introduction of new compensations schemes by the government for government employees and introduction of new SROs /revision of rates etc.

The participants thanked Vice Chancellor AIOU Prof Shahid Siddiqui for his support in making the conference successful. It was decided that the conference will take place on regular basis to take stock of the new developments in the financial matters. Treasurers of other universities will also be invited in the next meeting. A delegation of treasurers will soon meet chairman HEC to discuss the common issues. The conference was addressed by Tufail Khalil, Treasurer NUML, Khurshid Alam, Director Finance IIUI, Zia Akhtar, Treasurer QAU, Muhammad Azam, Additional Treasurer COMSAT, Syeda Irum Umer, Treasurer ARID.
