QUETTA - A policeman was shot dead in Hub and five children sustained wounds in a landmine blast in Dera Bugti  Monday while a body was recovered from Quetta and three people including a doctor were kidnapped from Naseerabad in separate incidents.

According to police, unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on head constable Azeemullah Ronjha at Sakran Road of Hub, the industrial town of Balochistan. As a result, he sustained critical wounds and died instantly.

Police rushed to the site after the incident and moved the body to nearby hospital for autopsy.

Police quoting eyewitnesses said attackers were riding a motorbike and fled from the scene after targeting the head constable who was on his way to police station.

In Quetta, police  recovered a body from Eastern Bypass area and moved it to civil hospital for autopsy.

Police said that hand and feet of victim were tied from behind and they found a chit from his pocket in which his name was written as Wazir Khan. The victim was shot dead by bullets.

In another incident, five children were injured in a landmine blast in Sui area of Dera Bugti.

Police sources said five children were on their way to school when one of them stepped on a landmine. The children were rushed to the hospital.

Separately, explosives planted by unknown people with pipeline supplying water to OGDCL plant exploded, damaging the pipeline and suspending supply to the plant. However, no loss of life was reported in the blast.

Meanwhile, unknown armed men kidnapped three people, including a doctor from Naseerabad.

Armed men held Doctor Muhammad Ayub, Mawal Khan and Dilbar hostage near Piro Bridge area of Naseerabad.

 Two people were shot dead in Jhal Magsi and two security personnel were wounded in a landmine blast in Dera Bugti.

According to the Levies Force officials, Sitam Khan and Zulfiqar Ali were on their way in Gott Shadipir area of Jhal Magsi when gunmen attacked them. The Levies Force handed over the bodies to heirs and registered a case against unidentified people.

In another incident, two security personnel were wounded in Dera Bugti in a landmine blast. According to reports, the landmine blast occurred in Tuba Nokhani area of Dera Bugti. The injured were shifted to hospital where they were identified as Hazrat Ali and Shaukat Ali. The security personnel cordoned off the area and started a search for the culprits.
