KARACHI - Syed Ghous Ali Shah and Saleem Zia were elected unopposed President and Secretary General respectively of the Sindh Chapter of PML-N at a meeting held here on Monday with party Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif in the chair.

Announcing the result of the election, the PML -N election commissioner Babu Sarfraz Jatoi said till January I, which was the last date for filling the nomination papers, only Ghous Ali Shah and Saleem Zia had filed their nominations for the offices of President and Secretary General.

Almost immediately after the announcement of the result, PML-N Coordinator for Karachi Division Hafeezuddin staged a walk out from the meeting, disagreeing with the election of Syed Ghous Ali Shah. Some of his colleagues tried to bring him back but Hafeezuddin declined to attend the meeting. The Council through a resolution authorized its new officebearers to nominate other officebearers of the Sindh Chapter with the consultation of the central leadership of the party. There are 600 odd members of the Council and almost all of them attended the meeting.
