LAHORE– PML(N) will name its top office bearers in Punjab on the return of Chief Minister Punjab from four-day visit of Turkey and the countrywide process of appointing President and General Secretary of the party will be completed by January 15 next.

The party has elected the Presidents and General Secretaries in two provinces namely Khyber PK and Sindh. Top office holders for Balochistan and Punjab remain to be named while the party is fast completing organizational work at the bottom including district, teshil and union council level besides making nomination of the wings and other bodies in all four provinces.

At to the PML(N) General Council meeting in Balochistan and Punjab, sources in the party confide that they are expected to be held respectively on January 7 and January 10 which however is subject to change owing the schedule of the party leadership. Sources say since the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has left for Turkey on four days visit therefore the deliberations on the names and final dates for convening the General Council meeting will be announced on his return. The whole process of naming the office holders at all tiers of the party, is expected to be completed by January 15.

Following the decision to bifurcate the province of Punjab in South and North for organizational work of the party, the PML(N) is going to name top office holders in both parts. Sources say the party leadership in its next meeting will take into consideration names for the President and General Secretary in both parts.

In South Punjab the party is facing challenge after the defection of senior vice president of the Party, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi to PTI which has attained a new contour in South Punjab after getting other eminent leaders like Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi in its folds. Similarly the Northern part of the province, which also includes central part of Punjab, comprises more urban area compare to the South as such the party will like to have office holders who can effectively protect and improve the votes banks in both sides.

Sources claim former President PML(N) Punjab, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa and Khwaja Saad Rafiq the most likely candidates respectively for South and North part of the Punjab. Sources say the induction of president, senior vice president and General secretary in district Lahore and remaining districts of Punjab will also be completed by January 15.

The sources further say that party is mulling appeasement of the workers through participating them in the identification of development schemes, jobs and giving them representation in different committees. In another development, sources say, PML(N) is working out strategy to adjust the forward bloc MPAs in the next general elections.
