MULTAN - Former foreign minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Monday contradicted the news of PTI’s likely alliance with former president Musharraf’s All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), saying the content of the news was totally baseless.

“We have no intention to make any alliance with them,” he added while talking to the journalists at the concluding session of 772nd annual urs celebrations of saint Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya. The urs proceedings continued for three consecutive days and a large number of faithful from across the country participated in it.

Earlier, addressing the last session Mr Qureshi said that the country was surrounded by serious crises and only a capable and honest leadership could steer it out of this situation.

Shah Mehmood, who is also sajjada nasheen (caretaker) of the shrine of the saint, added that the country was faced with internal and external threats as well as vicious conspiracies hatched by the enemies of Pakistan. He prayed that may Allah Almighty grant Pakistan such a leadership that not only loved the country but also the nation.

He lashed out at the government, accusing the rulers of looting national exchequer with both hands. “They are so brutally looting national wealth that the exchequer has vanished in a few years,” he maintained. He said that keeping in view prevailing situation and corrupt practices of the ruling parties, the masses sought new and honest leadership. “The people expect this leadership to play a brave role in protecting and rebuilding this country,” he added.

He said that the saints always promoted the message of love and peace and we could get rid of our all problems by acting upon their teachings. He said that the first university of this region was established by Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya which enlightened thousands of human beings at the times of darkness.

Later on, Shah Mahmood led a prayer at the end of the last session during which all participants prayed for the security and solidarity of Pakistan.
