LAHORE – The Lahore High Court on Monday sought reply from Punjab government on a writ petition against proposal for giving extension in employment to Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran, whose job tenure has ended on Jan 02.

Justice Sheikh Ahmad Farooq asked the counsels of petitioner and defendants to come up for arguments on the maintainability of the petition on next date of hearing.

Petitioner Former Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Dr Mughees-ud-Din Sheikh contended there were reports that government was going to extend the employment tenure of PU Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran and this extension would be violation of Supreme Court earlier orders. Petitioner requested the court to issue directions to the government restraining it from giving extension to Mujahid Kamran.

The Court issued notices to Punjab government directing it to file reply within two weeks.
