QUETTA - At least six personnel of Balochistan Constabulary were arrested on Friday for allegedly selling a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the official stock.

According to police sources, the arms and ammunition worth Rs 8 crore went missing from the Balochistan Constabulary's stock depot.

The police arrested six Balochistan Constabulary personnel allegedly involved in the fraud.

According to details, officials found the arms stock missing from the stock. On investigation it was found that dozens of Kalashnikovs, rifles, seven lakh bullets and other arms were missing.

About 14 arms dealers have also been taken into custody on revelations of the arrested personnel.

CCPO Abdul Razzak Cheema told media persons that an investigation team under SP Investigation has been formed and hoped that the plundered arms would be recovered.

MINISTER TAKES NOTICE OF POLIO CASE: Balochistan Health Minister Rahmat Saleh Baloch has taken serious notice over detection of a case of polio virus in a 26-month-old child in Balochistan's Chaghi district. In a statement, he sought a detailed report from the Director General Health in this regard.

The Health Minister directed the concerned health authorities to ensure coordination with the District Health Officers for the success of polio campaigns in the province.He said that negligence in the polio campaigns will not be tolerated at all cost.

He said that the present government is taking practical measures for the eradication of the crippling disease.
