LAHORE – A 16-year-old girl was stabbed to death allegedly by her brother over honor in City Raiwind police area on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Naseem Bibi, daughter of Anwar Masih of Pajian village. Police said Pervaiz Masih’s friends provoked him that his sister was having illicit relations with a neighbour. Upon which, the youth admonished her and asked her to shun illicit relations but she continued. On the day of incident, Pervaiz exchanged hot words with his sister, stabbed her repeatedly and fled from the scene, leaving her in a pool of blood.

The injured girl was taken to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead. An Edhi ambulance removed the body to the City morgue for autopsy. Police have booked the accused on the statement of Salamat Masih, brother of the deceased girl, with no arrest till filing of this report. Further investigation is underway.

Course for promotion of ASIs: Upper Class Course has been started at Police Training College Sihala for the promotion of Sub Inspectors to the rank of Inspectors.

Around 47 Sub-Inspectors from Lahore Police are also among those cops, who have assembled at the Police Training College from all across the Punjab Police Lines.

Strict security for City ordered: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Aslam Tareen has ordered the police to ensure strict snap-checking at all the entry and exit points of the City in order to keep a vigilant eye on the movement of the criminals.

The CCPO further ordered the officers to leave their offices and work in the field to provide security to the citizens and to redress the public grievances.

According to a police spokesperson, Muhammad Aslam Tareen stated this during his special visit to Cantonment police division on Saturday.

The CCPO talked to citizens who were present there and asked about the problems being faced by them.

 He also checked police record, registers of police stations and warned that those policemen found involved in corruption or reluctant in registration of complaints of citizens would be taken to task.

Aslam Tareen said police stations should be made a place of relief for the masses, where every law-abiding citizen ought to feel a sense of protection and honor.

The CCPO directed the Lahore Police to transform every police station into a place of respect and honor for every law- abiding citizen by extending them wholehearted cooperation, while dealing strictly with the criminal elements.

Head constable looted:  A head constable and his family were looted by three unidentified dacoits in Burki police area on Saturday evening.

According to sources, a head constable namely Shahid, currently deputed at Qila Gujjar Singh Police, while riding a motorbike was going to his home along with his mother. Burki police sources said some three dacoits, yet to be identified, intercepted them and held hostage the family at gunpoint.

The dacoits, however, fled the crime scene after collecting Rs10n000, gold ornaments and other valuables from the victims’ possession. Further investigation is underway.
