LAHORE – Paramedics continued strike at public sector hospitals across the province including the City on Saturday, adding to the woes and miseries of suffering humanity.

Paramedics denied medical treatment to thousands of visiting patients across the province by closing down OPDs of hospitals. Besides adding to the miseries of indoor patients, paramedics strike also caused cancellation of hundreds of scheduled and emergency surgeries. The Punjab Paramedics Alliance has announced to continue strike at public sector hospitals till acceptance of demands including revised service structure, health professional allowance and regularisation of ad hoc employees.

PPA Chairman Malik Munir said that the government was responsible for inconvenience to patients.

He said that the paramedics had no other option except to go for strike as the health department was not ready to accept legitimate demands. He announced to continue strike till fulfillment of all demands.
