Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi has resigned from his office and forwarded his resignation letter to the President Asif Ali Zardari. According to the sources, the governor contacted the President Zardari via phone and asked him to accept his resignation.

Magsi has said that the new government should be given chance to choose its own governor. “It is a positive step by the nationalist parties that they participated in the elections and now the new government should demonstrate good governance,” he said and hoped that the new government would take earnest steps for the improvement of situation in the province.

Governor Magsi had resigned from his office twice two years ago but his resignations were not accepted. Magsi was appointed as the Balochistan governor by former president General Pervez Musharraf. After a meeting with coalition partners, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president Nawaz Sharif on Sunday not only announced the name of new Balochistan CM but also announced that the next governor of the province would be from the Pashtunkhuwa Mili Awami Party.
