ISLAMABAD - The top leadership of the incoming ruling party, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), continued till late Sunday night consultations to finalise names of portfolio of the would-be federal minister from Punjab.

Credible sources in the PML-N told TheNation that these names would be finalised by Monday (today) while remaining members of the cabinet to be taken from the four provinces would be finalised after formation of the provincial cabinet. Sources said that efforts are aimed at accommodating either important party members or PML-N’s allied parties from provinces other than the Punjab in order to ensure due representation of the federating units in the federal cabinet.

The sources said so far the party leadership has finalised four names and their portfolios from the Punjab province including Ch Nisar Ali Khan, minister for interior, Senator Ishaq Dar, minister for finance, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, minister for energy, a new ministry to be created by merging the allied ministries, and Zahid Hamid, minister for law and justice.
