At least seven people including three children died and over 40 injured when severe dust storm lashed parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa around evening on Sunday.

The storm destroyed standing crops‚ uprooted trees‚ razed houses and caused power outages, while in some areas huge signboards also fell down wounding many people.

The storm was more intense in Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Malakand, Swat, Dir, Abbottabad and other parts of the province as it uprooted trees.

Reportedly, several houses were damaged and electricity supply disrupted in many areas of Peshawar when the dust storm followed by heavy rain hit parts of the province.

Seven people including three children and a woman died in Peshawar, Swat, Mardan and Abbottabad.

 Over 40 people were injured when the walls and roofs of houses collapsed. The injured were shifted to hospitals in their respective areas.

Six persons including two children were killed and nine others injured when the wall of a house collapsed during the storm in Peshawar. The incident occurred in Landi Sarak area of the city.

Nine members of the same family were injured when they were trapped under the rubble, officials of the rescue service said.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shaukatullah expressed sorrow at the loss of lives in the devastating thunderstorm that hit the province and adjoining tribal areas.

Islamabad and nearby areas experienced strong gusts of wind and rain shortly after the storm hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Many houses were also damaged and electricity supply was disrupted in many areas of Peshawar.

The storm caused main damage in Peshawar and its adjoining areas where many people were hospitalized following incidents of roof and wall collapses.

Hospital sources said nine children, who were seriously injured, were under treatment.
