GHOTKI (Agencies) Sixteen persons, including six women and five children were killed and 23 injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a trailer on National Highway. According to details, a passenger bus, bearing number GA-6611, bound for Rahim Yar Khan from Sukkur collided with a trailer near Bagh Chana Stop on the National Highway. Miss Shameena, Miss Shafa, Miss Maqsooda, Aalam Khatoon, Aamna, Shabaana, Saeed Ahmed and Ata Rasool died on the spot as a result of the accident while three others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Among the 23 injured, who were shifted to hospital, five are said to be in a critical condition. Area Police, Motorway Police, Ambulances and a large number of people rushed to the scene and helped in retrieving the bodies and taking the injured to District Headquarter Hospital Ghotki, where emergency was declared and all doctors were called to duty. District Coordination Officer Ghotki Zahid Ali Abbasi and District Police Officer Ghazi Salahuddin also arrived on the scene of the accident and supervised the relief activity. The accident was reportedly caused by a diversion on the Highway, where vehicles coming from both sides are moving on a single track in opposite directions. The bodies of accident victims have been shifted to District Headquarter Hospital Ghotki. Five dead bodies are still unidentified.
