RAWALPINDI (APP) Rawalpindi citys first parking plaza at Fowara Chowk in Raja Bazaar would start operation in November, Director General (DG) Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chaudhry Naseer said. Talking to APP, he said that construction work of the parking plaza is near completion as its renovation work is underway which would be completed in October. He said that the project is being completed at a cost of nearly Rs 20 million which will certainly mitigate the problems of the motorists who visit the busiest bazaar of the town. DG RDA giving the credit of the project to Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif said that the CM took keen interest for the construction of the parking plaza in Rawalpindi which was a long standing demand of the public. The parking plaza is constructed on 4.5 kanals of land will have total five stories and a basement. It is located in the heart of the city at the crossing of Liaquat and Jinnah roads near Fowara Chowk. To a question he said that basement and two floors have been completed under first phase of the project while under next phase three floors will also be constructed. To another question he said that according to estimates, RDA will generate an income of Rs 10 million annually from this project. The DG further informed that the plaza would have parking capacity of 240 vehicles while there would also be a stand of nearly 120 public service vehicles in the basement.
