ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has called an emergency conference on energy crisis in the Prime Ministers House today. Several important decisions would also be taken and proposal of two-day weekly off would be discussed in the conference as well. Additionally, propositions of switching off lights at 8pm in all the parks and using air-conditioners in the offices before 11am would be discussed in detail in the conference. Officials in the government informed that after the recent disastrous rains in Sindh, the Sindh government has refused to take water supply for irrigation from both Mangla and Tarbela dams for upcoming Rabbi crops as majority of agriculture land is wet. These officials said that due to stoppage of water supply from both the dams the power generation was adversely affected from both these dams resulting in additional power shortfall of 2500MW.
