Eleven “hardened criminals” managed to escape from police custody in a private investigation cell.

The CIA police Rahim Yar Khan had established a private investigation cell near Flyover of Bypass Road where 12 accused involved in heinous crimes were kept in a room and were being interrogated.

All the accused broke the door of this private torture cell and escaped after injuring three policemen on duty with bricks. The police started search operation in the adjoining areas to find out the criminals but failed but one of them namely Tahir Mastoi who escaped towards Basti Malkan near Peer Shaheedan surrendered himself claiming that he was innocent.

The Saddar police shifted him at an unknown place after his arrest. Police continued the search operation whole the night and raided different areas but failed to arrest the remaining eleven accused. The injured policemen were shifted to Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital. After the escape of dangerous accused the people of the neighbouring areas are worried. PRO to DPO Arshad Nawaz said that the information of 12 accused was wrong, only one accused was escaped who was arrested later.

GAS THEFT DETECTED: A team raided two internet cafes in Firdous Market and caught theft of gas and electricity.

The team consisted of the Federal Investigation Agency, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and Multan Electric Supply Corporation. FIA Inspector Abdul Vakeel and Sub Inspector Abdul Raouf of Multan Circle including SNGPL district in charge Chaudhry Akram, engineer Waqas and Mepco technical engineer Talib Husain checked the gas and electricity connections of D-Link internet café, City net café and Speed internet café and found gas theft. D-Link café owner was using two 12 KV, 13 KV generators while Speed café owner was using a 18 KV generator on natural gas. They were also supplying gas to other net cafes and shops in the market.

SNGPL staff removed six gas meters during the raid. Meanwhile, the owner of a net café contacted an influential figure of the ruling party through his mobile to build pressure on the team but escaped on failure. SNGPL officials said that the FIA personals will register an FIR against the accused.
