LAHORE: A painting exhibition was kicked off on Wednesday at the Government College University Lahore Fine Arts Department at Minhas Art Gallery.

GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khaleeq-ur-Rahman inaugurated the exhibition featuring 24 masterpieces of eminent artist Muhammad Iqbal.

Punjab Council of Arts Deputy Director Muhammad Ehsan was also present. Speaking on the occasion, the VC appreciated the work of the artist, saying that Muhammad Iqbal had invented new ways in abstract art by creating images filled with bright colors. He said that the artist had used paint generously, but still his paintings were highly eye-catching. He said that in most of his paintings, Muhammad Iqbal highlighted depression which prevailed in our society due to terrorism and inflation.–Staff Reporter
