Former federal minister Syed Hamid Saeed Kazmi has warned the government that any amendment in blasphemy law will not be tolerated whatsoever. Talking to journalists here on Wednesday, he said that the Muslims would confront any move from the rulers to amend the law. He strongly criticised Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf President Makhdoom Javed Hashmi for his statement regarding amendments in blasphemy law.

He warned that committing blasphemy could completely destroy the foundations of one’s faith. “If Hashmi claims that his statement meant to block the way of those who put false blames on others and use this law for their vested interests, he should have contacted the clerics instead of giving irresponsible statements,” he maintained. He added that Hashmi could bring up the matter with Islamic Ideological Council as it was also an appropriate forum to discuss this issue.
