MULTAN : Over 11 million bales of cotton have reached ginneries across the country by December 1, 2013, registering 15.27pc increase as compared to corresponding period last year. Seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to 11,045,341 bales reached ginneries as compared to 9,582,860 bales during corresponding period of 2012, says a fortnightly report of PCGA issued here on Tuesday. Arrivals in Punjab were recorded at 75,668,61 bales, as compared to 6,605,379 bales recorded during corresponding period of last year. Punjab registered an overall increase of 14.54pc in the production.  Arrivals in Sindh were recorded at 3,479,480 bales, showing a surge by 16.87 per cent by recording 2,977,181 bales as compared to last year.

Arrivals in Balochistan were recorded at 56,064 bales showing an increase of 17.87 per cent. Exporters have bought 274,374 bales of cotton while textile mills purchased 8,729,136 bales, the report adds. Exactly 2,041,831 bales were still lying with the ginneries as unsold stock so far, it says.
