KARACHI - Reigning champion M Asif continued his superb run in the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Snooker Championship in Daugavpils (Latvia) when he overpowered David Hogan of Ireland to notch-up his fifth win at trot on Tuesday.

It was the toughest match of the group ‘A’ for Faisalabad-based Asif and victory almost secured him a place in the knock-out rounds. Top seed Asif made sluggish start but regained his momentum to register 24-74, 106-24, 91-47, 25-60, 103-12, 28-77, 77-37. Asif raised the breaks of 70 and 75 in second and third frame to maintain his top slot in ladder.

Earlier on Monday's night, Shahid Aftab and Imran Shehzad also maintained their winning spree with their fourth win in a row. Shahid compiled brilliant breaks of 91 and 130 while blasting Krzysztof Wrobel of Poland 4-0. After making the break of 91 in the first frame, Shahid carved out his best international break of 130 while registering 91-02, 90-26, 130-01), 55-48 victory.  Pakistan No 1 Imran Shehzad dropped two frames before grabbing an exciting 4-2 over John Whitty of England. Imran made the breaks of 93 and 50 in his 58-56, 01-77, 16-74, 93-15, 74-62, 78-01 win.
