The Cholistan is full of natural gifts in the shape of plants, herbs/shrubs which are very useful for mankind and livestock and needed due attention for their growth, promotion and preservation for social and national interest.

This was stated by IUB VC Dr Muhammad Mukhtar here while talking to the faculty members of the university on the eve of the viva of the MPhil Scholar of Govt SE College Botany Department lecturer Farooq Inam.

Farooq Inam has completed his MPhil thesis on a plant of Cholistan, Algae under the supervision of Dr Muhammad Mukhtar who informed that Algae was found in the water ponds of deserts and Algae had the quality to make desert land fertile through mixing it and had the capacity to contain water while some qualities of Algae were full of diet qualities.

Dr Muhammad Mukhtar remarked that the desert plants could play active role for productive results in different fields under the prevailing conditions.

He was of the view that research was essential for positive results in every field and we could take full benefit of Cholistan for the service of suffering humanity as the herbal medicines manufactured by the herbs/shrubs and plants of Cholistan.

Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies Director Dr Shazia Anjum and Nuclear Institute of Agriculture and Biology Faisalabad Principal Scientific Officer Dr Yaseen Ashraf were also present on the occasion.
