PESHAWAR - Special Adviser to Prime Minister and Central Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Amir Muqam has alleged that the Khyber Pakhtunkhawa government is paying money to PTI workers for bringing them to stage sit-in and block NATO supplies to Afghanistan via Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “I am confident that PTI is giving money to its workers for blocking the NATO supplies. I don’t know the agenda of PTI but sure enough that it has been staging a drama to befool people,” he added. He said that on one hand the PTI government is blocking the NATO supplies to Afghanistan while on other hand, it is getting dollars from the United Station for its various developmental projects.

He said this while speaking at PML-N KPK and FATA Convention which was also attended by the party’s former and sitting elected members, presidents and general secretaries from all the districts and tribal agencies as well as office-bearers of the party’s different wings here on Tuesday. After a long time, the PML-N organised such a huge gathering, where the party workers amid slogans warmly received Amir Muqam in a jam-packed hall.

He said instead of blocking the NATO supplies routes through workers, why do not the KPK government block it through an executive order.  He said that stopping NATO supplies meant snatching one time bread from Pakhtuns, as majority of them involved in transport business.

Condemning drone attacks, Amir Muqam said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took up drone issue with the US president bravely and made it an international issue while the PTI and JI were making political points on the issue, which was very unfortunate. He said that his party believed in dialogue for the restoration of peace as war has ever brought destruction nothing else. He said that he saluted to the forces and people for rendering sacrifices for the country.

He was of the view that it is a unanimous demand of the entire nation to hold talks. He said that he had lost his cousins and survived suicide attacks and could understand the problem better. It is the prime duty of the government to establish writ of the government through joint efforts and without shedding more blood. He appreciated Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar for his peace efforts.

About power outage, he said that people had already realised better changes in loadshedding, saying they would overcome the problems in coming five years. Appreciating the performance of PML-N in KPK in last elections, Amir Muqam said that N-League was still a major party by getting 9,50,000 votes while the PTI has obtained just 12,00,000 votes.

He called for unity among party ranks, adding the PML-N would gain majority in the coming local bodies’ elections and they would field nominees at every union council. He thanked the workers and leaders for reposing confidence in him, saying he would come up to the expectations of the people and leadership. Amir Muqam said he was accountable to the provincial cabinet, members of all wings and workers. He said they would establish party’s secretariat so that the workers could not face problems while visiting Islamabad for the solution of their problems.

Speaking on the occasion, the PML-N KPK President Pir Sabir Shah termed Amir Muqam as a “deserving personality” for the prime minister’s adviser ship, saying it would remove sense of deprivation among the workers. He said the country was passing through critical situation but his leadership had the capability to cope with challenges. He asked district presidents to chalk out comprehensive plan for coming local bodies elections.

The PML-N MNA from Bajaur Agency Shahabuddin Khan alleged that PTI was staging a drama by blocking Nato supplies. He said that it was astonishing that the tribal MNAs were making legislation for rest of the country but could not do so for their own people.

He expressed the hope the PML-N government would bring FATA to mainstream, adding that he would resign from his MNA seat if the promises made with tribal legislatures were not met by the N-League government in the future.
