SANGLA HILL/SHEIKHUPURA - PML-Q Senior Vice President and former Punjab law minister Basharat Raja said that people had lost their patience as lawlessness, skyrocketing prices of daily-use items and crippling power and gas loadshedding coupled with rampant unemployment have crushed the masses. He claimed that his party would play effective role of opposition to expose the wrong policies and hallow claims of the ruling PML-N government both at the centre and in Punjab.

While PML-Q Punjab General Secretary Chaudhry Zaheeruddin declared that the PML-N-led government was not sincere in holding the local bodies elections and the Election Commission should step up efforts for the LG elections.

Both the PML-Q stalwarts stated this while addressing a big gathering of the party workers here in Nankana Sahib the other day. Ch Zaheer asserted that the PML-Q had served the entire Punjab without any discrimination and provided maximum possible facilities in every sector including health, education and others, adding that the PML-Q-led government launching massive development projects and welfare programmes for the well-being of the masses. He drew a comparison, saying that prices of essentials, utility tariffs and ratio of unemployment and law and order situation was far better than under the present regime and people had got fed up with the incumbent government due to the latter's failure to come up to their expectations. He argued that people had realized in just six months how much atta and pulses cost and if the situation persisted then the masses would have to run around even for a meal of single time. Ch Zaheer regretted that the prices of daily-use items had gone up to the extent that now people could not even threw potatoes and tomatoes on the PML-N Ministers, MNAs and MPAs with the thought that instead of throwing these items on them they better should use them for one time meal.

Speaking on the occasion, PML-Q Punjab Deputy General Secretary Nasir Mehmood Gill maintained that people had fed up with the worst economic condition and the poor were committing suicides to abject poverty. He said that the rulers had signed agreement with the IMF with their eyes shut which resulted in the exorbitant hike in the tariff of electricity and POL products prices. He claimed that the ruling party was faced with grave differences at grass-roots level that's why it was reluctant to conduct the LG elections. He pointed out that caretaker Punjab chief minister Najam Sethi had got Wazirabad Cardiology Hospital started but Shahbaz Sharif after assuming office for second time got it closed. "The Punjab govt has not money even to pay salaries and financial situation of Punjab is very weak," Gill claimed, adding that Jangla bus service had not given any benefit to people instead was causing Rs11 billion loss to the exchequer every month.

The growing inflation, lawlessness, unemployment and frequent drone attacks on Pakistan soil have become the major problems for the people, Raja said, adding that people who cast their votes in favour of the PML-N in May election, now praying to Allah Almighty to get rid of them.

He declared that the PML-Q would participate in the forth coming LG election with full vigour.
