Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has appreciated the foolproof security measures adopted by the district police and the local administration during the Muharramul Harram, saying that due to stringent security measures not a single incident of violence or disruption like Rawalpindi mishap occurred in the district.

He was speaking at a 'Commendation Certificates Awarding Ceremony' arranged by the Faisalabad Police at Police Lines here the other night.

The Minister said that it was the basic duty of the police to maintain law and order and protect the life and property of citizens. He said that the local administration and the police adopted a foolproof security strategy during the Muharram with the active cooperation of local trade bodies, members of the assemblies and civil society and Ulema belonging to all schools of thought due to which not a single incidence of violence took place in Faisalabad. He added that the members of the local core committee also played pivotal role in maintaining law and order in the district.

Rana Sanaullah paid rich tribute to the police jawans who were martyred after fighting with disruptive elements and miscreants and said they had laid down their lives to protect the life and property of citizens. He said that they are indeed "Shaheed" and their sacrifices would always be acknowledged by the nation.

He said that the present compensation package for the martyred officials of the police and other law enforcement agencies was not inadequate and hence the government was considering revising it.

The Minister fully endorsed the demands of the CPO for the establishment of a 'Combined Police Hospital' construction of the police barracks in the police stations and construction of the Housing Colony for the police employees besides provision for some adequate fringe benefits to police force.

Earlier, CPO Dr Haider Ashraf in his briefed address of welcome thanked the local ulema, members of the civil society, trade bodies and the assembly members for their unreserved cooperation to the police in maintaining law and order in Faisalabad during Muharram.

DCO Noorul Amin Mangal also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the role of the administration and the police in maintain law and order in Faisalabad during Muharram.

Later, commendation certificates were awarded to the police officers and jawans for rendering meritorious services during Muharram.
