A police constable embraced martyrdom during a shootout with dacoits who were busy in a highway robbery. According to detail, some dacoits were busy looting people at Chowk Baghbanpura when Baghpanpura Police reached the spot on a tip-off.

When dacoits saw the police they opened indiscriminate fire on them. Resultantly, constable Shahbaz died on the spot while the dacoits succeeded in escaping from the scene.

Later, his funeral was offered at Ashraf Marth Police Lines, which was attended by Gujranwala Division Commissioner Shamail Ahmed Khawaja, RPO Saad Akhter Bharwana, CPO Raja Riffat Mukhtar and other police officers and officials.

Posters exhibition: The exhibition of posters presentation was held at the Department of English Literature and linguistics, GCUF, here other day.

The purpose behind the exhibition was to highlight the themes of nationalism, east vs west race/cast system, issues related to women rights, gender stereotypes, cultural identity and the problems of post-colonial era. The students of English literature and linguistics arranged the posters and flexes in corridors of their department. The posters and flexes also highlighted the important issues of post-colonial literature. Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Dean Dr Shahbaz Arif visited the exhibition and appreciated the creative work of students of the English Department.
