Ten persons including three women were killed and 26 others injured in different incidents occurred in various areas over the past 24 hours.

According to details, in Jhang a woman was crushed to death in a road mishap occurred on Jhang-Multan Road here. As per reports, Hafeezan Bibi along with her son Kamran, resident of Mauza Mangan situated in the remit of Shorkot City Police were going on a bike. As they reached near Adda Kaki Nau, a speeding truck coming from Multan side hit them. Resultantly, Hafeezan Bibi died on the spot while her son sustained serious injuries and was admitted to THQ hospital Shorkot.

In another collision between two motorcycles a man was killed. Reportedly, Riaz, his son Asad and Mumtaz were going on a bike. As they reached near Adda Talo Morr situated in the jurisdiction of Qadirpur Police the bike collided with another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction due to dense fog. Resultantly, they all sustained injuries and were taken to hospital but Riaz succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Similarly, a seven-year-old boy was run over by an uncontrolled horse-cart in Mandi Shah Jewna. As per details, seven-year-old Hassan, son of Muhammad Ismael was going to mosque to learn Holy Quran when suddenly on the way a horse-cart run over and crushed him on the spot. The bereaved family, however, forgave the owner of horse-cart and refused to take any legal action.

In yet another mishap a 30-year-old man was killed in Shah Jewna. As per details, one Muhammad Aslam, a resident of Dara Wala came to floor Chakki for grinding wheat when suddenly his ‘Chaddar’ entangled in the belt of grinding machine and he breathed his last on the spot.

On the other hand, an 18-year-old young man was electrocuted in Chak 167/JB situated in the limit of Mochiwla Police. Taswar Abbas, son of Muhammad Aslam was repairing an electric board in his home when suddenly he touched a naked electric wire due to which he sustained severe electric shocks and died instantly.

In Sargodha, two persons were electrocuted and six sustained injuries when sugarcane-laden tractor-trolleys touched a live electricity line here in the remit of Qadirpur Police. The incident occurred when two tractor-trolleys loaded with sugarcane were on the way to a local sugar mills. When they reached near village Ghori Wala, a tractor-trolley touched an electricity wire which broke and fell on both the vehicles. Resultantly, a labourer namely Samar Abbas, a resident of village 174/NB and his mate Umer Hayat, a resident of Ghori Wala received severe electric shocks and breathed their last on the spot while six others were shifted to hospital.

In MIRPUR (AJK), a man was killed and three others sustained grievous injuries in a head-on collision between two speeding cars at Chitterpari on Mangla Road near here on Monday.

The deceased was identified as the wife of Sajid Bazmi, a PPP leader and former chairman People Youth Organization AJK. Police said that the wife of Sajid Bazmi was on the way to Mangla from Mirpur when a speeding vehicle, coming from the opposite direction, collided with her car leaving her dead besides injuring three others on board the other car.

All the injured were admitted to Mirpur DHQ Hospital where their condition is stated to be out of danger. The Mangla Police have registered a case and further investigation is in progress.

Meanwhile, in Hafizabad a young girl and her mother in village Mooan committed suicide by consuming poisonous pills following a quarrel with their family members on Monday.

According to police source, Misbah and her mother quarrelled with the family members over a minor issue and they felt annoyed and consumed wheat preservative tablets. They were rushed to hospital where Misbah died while her mother has been shifted to the Allied Hospital Faisalabad in critical condition.

The police are investigating.

In Chiniot, a man killed his son-in-law over a family dispute. As per details, Faisal Fatiana, a resident of village Obhan, Tehsil Bhowana married with daughter of Bashir Ahmad of the same village. Howevr, soon the couple developed differences and the woman settled with her parents. Meanwhile, Bashir summoned his son-in-law Faisal and forced to beg apology from his wife. On his refusal, he killed him with a sharp edge weapon and fled from the scene. The Bhowana police have registered a case.

In another incident about 22 girls and women injured seriously when a bus overturned due to speeding. The incident occurred when a Faisalabad-bound bus overturned near Shams Mills, some 5-km from here due to speeding and slippery on road due to drizzling. The bus skidded off to adjoining crop fields and overturned. Rescue 1122 ambulances rushed the injured to hospital by breaking the window panes.
