ISLAMABAD : Energy expert Dr Gulfraz Ahmad has said that the construction of new dams is a must for Pakistan to overcome water shortage and energy crisis. Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said the Diamer-Bhasha Dam would have capacity to store 650 billion acre feet water and generate 4500 MW electricity. Replying to a question, he said the the Diamer-Bhasha Dam, besides other benefit, would help control floods. He termed the Diamer-Bhasha Dam an important project as it would not only generate power but would also store water for agriculture purpose.
