Two dacoits and a police constable were killed in a shootout occurred in Sialkot city’s congested Hajipura locality Monday evening.

DSP City Maqsood Ahmed Lone told the newsmen that some suspected dacoits had been living in a rented house located in Hajipura ban locality. A police party from Hajipura police station raided on the house to arrest the accused. However, on seeing the police, the accused opened fire, killing constable Qaiser on the spot. The accused fled away by firing into the air. The police started chasing the fleeing accused who kept on firing on the policemen near the bridge on Naullah Aik. When, the police retaliated, both of the accused were killed. The accused were identified as Shehbaz and Imtiaz. According to the local people, both the accused had been living in the rented house for the last couple of months. The DSP added that the accused were wanted by the Sialkot police in several cases of heinous nature crimes.

He said that village Bhullar-Bambaanwala Daska tehsil based martyred police constable Qaiser had joined police forced in 2001. Police shifted the dead bodies to Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital.
