KHANEWAL - Rescue 1122 District Emergency Officer Dr Ijaz Anjum expressed concern over the using trend of calls to Rescue 1122 and advised community safety officer to sensitize public that engaging emergency number in meaningless talk could be harmful to those in need of help. Presiding over a monthly meeting of rescuers to review performance here, he said that Rescue 1122 should only be contacted in emergency situation, pleading that its proper use would enable rescuers to provide assistance to those who actually need it to save their lives, said a press statement issued here.

He said that Rescue 1122 received 1,415 emergency calls in January 2015 including 445 call conveying accidents’ information, 63 calls of crime incidents, 08 calls of fire incidents, 02 calls of drowning incidents, 723 medical emergencies and 164 calls conveying information regarding other incidents.

Every emergency call was responded by rescuers in average seven minutes time and a total 1,413 persons were shifted to hospital after first aid treatment, the release concluded.
