GUJRANWALA-A team of Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested three persons including a Patwari for their alleged attempt to deprive a widow of her property on Wednesday.

According to ACE sources, Abdul Hameed with the connivance of a Patwari and a secretary union council submitted a bogus certificate to the Revenue Department showing that his brother Hanif and his wife Raqia had died and they had left no child. He demanded transfer of their property to him.

In response, Raqia, resident of Garmola Virkan, submitted an application to the ACE stating she was alive and proved the application fake which was submitted by her brother-in-law Abdul Hameed.

ACE circle officer Nasir Chattha arrested the accused Abdul Hameed while the patwari and the secretary union council had already been arrested by the ACE.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed on Wednesday to have arrested 15 human traffickers in different raids conducted in Gujranwala division.

FIA Deputy Director Mufakhir Adeel told the media that the accused including Jamshed, Ilyas, Zaheer, Abbas, Mehdi Hassan, Mohsin, Zulifqar, Asghar and Faisal Ayub were involved in trafficking people to Italy, Greece, Germany and France. They were arrested from Gujranwala, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin and Gujrat districts, he added.

Meanwhile, students of a local government school foiled an alleged attempt to occupy the school building here on Wednesday. According to police, teachers and students reached the school early in the morning but found some influential people along with large quantity of domestic use items in the classrooms. The occupants asked the students and teachers to go back to home, saying they shall not vacate the building. Listening to this, hundreds of students started agitation. They rushed in the classrooms and threw the occupants luggage on the road. On information, Assistant Commissioner Rao Sohail, education officers and Baghbanpura police personnel reached the spot and arrested the accused.

WOMAN DIES AS JOLTED OUT OF ROOF: A woman died after she was shoved off the roof of her house allegedly by her husband in Garjakh police precincts here on Wednesday. Father of deceased woman told the police that his daughter, Saima, was married off to Arshad five years ago. He said differences arose between the couple over domestic issues.

On Wednesday, Arshad pushed Saima off the roof of house. Resultantly, she fell on the ground and died on the spot. Garjakh police registered a case against the accused and started investigations.
