/APP/MULTAN/HAFIZABAD/SARGODHA-Another patient who was tested positive for seasonal influenza died at Intensive Care Unit of the Nishtar Hospital here on Wednesday.

Focal person Nishtar Hospital for Infectious Diseases Dr Irfan Arshad said that Kiran,30, hailed from Multan and was admitted to the health facility on December 31 from where she had been shifted to the ICU in a critical condition two days back. The death toll rose to 13 with Kiran's demise. Dr Irfan informed three confirmed patents of seasonal influenza had been discharged on completion of treatment from the Nishtar Hospital on Wednesday. Their names were Sana, Salma and Imran, he concluded.

Meanwhile, four people including a Motorway Police inspector were killed while ten others seriously injured in two different road mishaps at two different places due to speeding and poor visibility owing to thick fog. According to rescue source, two cars were on way to Lahore. Near Motorway M-III Pindi Bhattian, a truck coming from behind hit the cars as a result of which both the cars overturned, resulting in the death of Motorway Inspector Ubaidur Rehman, Asif and Nawaz Jan while four others sustained serious injuries. The dead bodies and injured were shifted to the hospital.

Another mishap took place near Chodhu Ahmad Yar, where a 3-wheeler collided head on with a motorcycle as a result of which six persons Wajahat, Irshad Bibi, Farah Bibi, Abdul Rehman, Ameen Bibi and Azmat Bibi were seriously injured and were shifted to the hospital where condition of two of them stated to be precarious.

A woman was killed while another got injured in a road accident in Shahnikdar police limits.

Police sources said a man, Abdullah, resident of Shahnikdar town, along with his daughter Sumera Bibi, was riding a motorcycle on Silanwali road when a speeding truck driven by unknown person hit the two-wheeler near Sobhaga village. As a result, Sumera Bibi died on the spot while her father suffered injuries.

The injured was shifted to THQ Hospital Silanwali. Police have registered a case.

Defiant sister knifed to death by addict

HAFIZABAD: A young woman in Khuttay Shah village was stabbed to death by her brother as she refused to pay him some money for intoxicants.

According to police source, accused Nauman was an addict and he often quarreled with his family members. On the day, the family members refused to pay him some money as a result of which they exchanged harsh words. Thereupon, the accused allegedly pounced upon Amrash Bibi and allegedly attacked him with a dagger causing her instant death. The accused managed to escape after committing the offence. The police have registered a case against the accused and shifted the dead body to the morgue for autopsy.
