Rawalpindi - The City Traffic Police has announced a traffic plan for the Chehlum of martyrs of Khatam-e-Nabuwat to be held at Liaquat Bagh today on Thursday.

In order to control the traffic, a total of 4 Deputy Superintendents of Police, 9 Inspectors In charge, 116 wardens and 16 junior traffic wardens would impart duty on Murree Road and outside Liaquat Bagh, said Chief Traffic Officer Chaudhry Yusaf Ali Shahid here on Wednesday.

He said that diversions would be placed at different points and traffic would be diverted on substitute routes from 8am till the Chehlum concludes.

Sharing the traffic plan, CTO said the vehicles coming towards Murree Road from Tipu Road would be diverted from Rawalpindi Medical University towards Fauji Tower. Similarly, the commuters who want to travel to Murree Road from Saddar would be diverted towards Katcheri from Mareer Chowk, he said. CTO added a diversion would be placed at DAV College Road from where the traffic moving towards Liaquat Road from Fawara Chowk would be divert e towards Sadar and Gawalmandi.

The travelers whose destination is Liaquat Bagh from Mareer Chowk can use Mareer Hassan, Punjab House, Katcheri Chowk and Kamran Market to reach their destinations, he said.

The traffic coming towards Saddar from Islamabad would also be diverted from Rawal Road Turn, Islamic Honey Center, Saeen Jee Murag Pulao and Committee Chowk. CTO Chaudhry Yusaf Ali Shahid said traffic wardens would not allow the traffic coming from Imambargah Chowk to enter Akbar International Rounabout and divert the vehicles towards New Muhala and Committee Chowk to avoid traffic rush.

He informed that traffic police are committed to facilitate the road users and citizens on eve of Chehlum of Khatam-e-Nabuwat martyrs and the public should contact Traffic Police Helpline 051-9272616 for information regarding traffic movement. CTO also ordered traffic wardens to keep a vigil over suspected vehicles and cars moving with unauthorized number plates. He said that entry of all kind of vehicles would be banned towards Liaquat Bagh in order to maintain law and order situation.
