MIRPUR (AJK) - As many as 15 persons including two women were killed while three others suffered injuries, two of them seriously, when a 20-seater coaster with 18 tourists on board, skidded into a deep ravine at Devlian village, about 25 kilometres away from Muzaffarabad on Saturday morning, police said. The ill-fated coaster (LWC-3787) carrying tourists from Rawalpindi and Haripur was on way to Athmuqam, district headquarter of the picturesque Neelam valley, when it met the accident at 7.30 am while negotiating a sharp turn near Sheep Farm close to Devlian village on the highway, police officer Panjgran Police Station Syed Ahmed Shah told this correspondent over telephone. Tourists were going to Neelam valley to enjoy the holiday in this one of the most attractive tourists resort of AJK. 12 people died on the sport whereas remaining three succumbed to their serious injuries on way to the Combined Military Hospital Muzaffarabad while three grievously injured persons have been admitted there, the police officer said. The dead included Qudsiya Aamer, wife of Aamer Naeem, Fakhera Batool, Qasim Zia, Aqeel ur Rehman, Assad Ali, Ali Taqi, Zeashaan Sohail, Gul Akber, Raheel Asher and Muhammad Zameer. The injured were immediately shifted to CMH Muzaffarabad by the private vans and ambulances, the police officer said, adding that all the bodies were dispatched to Rawalpindi by the ambulances. Police and the local people rushed to the scene to join the rescue operation. Police have registered a case and further investigations are in progress.
