LAHORE A delegation of Mckinsey Group International, led by Professor John Briscoe, called on the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif at CMs Secretariat, here on Saturday, and discussed water resources. Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Ahmad Ali Aulakh, MNAs Pervaiz Malik, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretaries Irrigation and Agriculture departments, Vice Chairman Investment Board and people belonging to private sector as well as senior officers were also present on this occasion. Talking to delegation, Shahbaz Sharif said improvement of water management and best utilisation of water was need of the hour and the government would have to pay full attention to this sector. He said the Punjab government was taking solid steps for creating awareness among farmers about modem agriculture technology and promotion of agriculture. The Mckinsey Group has experience of water resources and best use of water and we can benefit from their experience, he said, while issuing direction to constitute a committee to jointly formulate a course of action with Mckinsey Group for improvement of water management. He said departments concerned of the Punjab government would extend full cooperation for this purpose. Earlier, representative of Mckinsey Group, Professor John Briscoe gave a briefing with regard to best use of water and water resources. Participants of the meeting also put forth their suggestions.
