LAHORE - Police gunned down a 25-year-old alleged robber in what the police claimed an encounter in Kahna Area on Saturday. The deceased, yet to be identified, was the resident of Walton. Police investigators said a dacoit entered into a home of one Ameer Ali about 11:00 am on Saturday, on which family members present there raised noise as a result of which the robber fled from the home and hide in nearby ground. Meanwhile, police along with people cordoned off the field and asked the robber to come out. On his refusal, Khurram, son-in-law of Ameer Ali tried to apprehend the dacoit, who later, opened fires on him which was retaliated in the same way as a result the dacoit died on the spot, police said. Later, police handed over his body to his heirs after medico-legal formalities. Two killed in accident At least two people including a 12-year-old boy were crushed to death in two different accidents on Saturday. As per details, the spouse of Nawaz, resident of Naseem Park in Islampura, along with her minor child was on her way to home on a rickshaw after visiting her relatives in Shahdara about 4:00 pm, when the rickshaw bumped into air owing to a jump and the minor child, Tabish Rizvi, fell on the road near Saggian Tool Plaza. Meanwhile, a speedy truck crushed the child to death on the spot. The drive of the truck however managed to flee from the crime scene. Later, the body of the minor was shifted to the city morgue for autopsy. Meanwhil, a 65-year-old unidentified man succumbed to wounds when a speedy car hit him in Old Anarkali police precincts on Saturday. Man killed in 'robbery' bid An Assistant Line Superintendent was killed during a robbery attempt in Shahdara police limits in the wee hours on Saturday. As per details, the deceased Mohammad Yousaf, resident of Floor Mill Area, along with his two daughters and one son-in-law, Ghulam Rasool, was sleeping in courtyard of his home when one unidentified robber entered the home. Police said he was robbing the home but Yousaf awoke up and starting crying for help, on which, the robber opened fires on Yousaf who succumbed to injuries on the spot. Sources however said that the alleged robber was a paramour of the deceaseds daughter and was awakening the girl when her father awoke up. But police said nothing could be established before seeking solid evidence. Police have registered an FIR against unknown killer with no arrest so far. Later, his body was shifted to the city morgue for medico formalities.
